New to DPC?

Welcome!  We are delighted you found us!

Darnestown Presbyterian Church is a mid-sized church (450 members) located right on old Route 28 just after entering Darnestown. We are mainline, but lively and spirited in all we do. We seek to be disciples of Jesus Christ in this current age, and therefore look to include absolutely everyone in our community of faith and service. Indeed, we strive to bring the grace, compassion and good news of Christ to life each and every day, believing it is possible to be spirited and faithful, but also be inclusive, compassionate and open-minded. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.

Worship each week begins at 11:00 a.m. and is currently being held at Darnestown Elementary School while our sanctuary is being renovated.  Our worship is always child-friendly, including a children's sermon followed by a Junior Church program.  There is always a professionally staffed nursery available. A warm welcome is offered to all visitors at worship, and first-time visitors are given a home baked loaf of bread.

Our Chancel Choir offers a wide variety of music for our worship each week. Our Teen Choir adds their voices to our service each month. Our Bell Choir rings monthly. Our Children's Choir sings on special occasions. Our music is truly diverse in style, but the spirit is strong and friendly, and under the direction of our church musician, all of our choirs are growing. Please note that our choirs are volunteer and all — no matter what their gifts might be — are welcome to participate. Praise of the Lord and communion within the choirs remain the primary goals of our church music.

Sunday School

Our Sunday School for all ages is strong and growing in numbers. A new curriculum that has been well received helps our capable teachers present the good news. There are classes for all ages from nursery on up! Two adult classes meet each week studying a variety of topics.  Our Youth Group is friendly, welcoming and growing, as well.

Demonstrating God's love through outbound mission work is important at DPC. We support the mission work of the Presbyterian Church (USA), so our denomination can support more than 200 missionaries in as many as 68 countries around the world. In our own community, we support AA, Germantown HELP, Habitat for Humanity, the Lord's Table Soup Kitchen, plus five other local mission organizations. Summer mission trips to Drift, Kentucky, and to downtown Washington, DC, give all a chance to actually do mission.
